At Raycom Infotech Park in Beijing, WET has designed two water features that adorn the thriving business center with the rejuvenating power of water. Located in the heart of Zhongguancun, China’s “Silicon Valley”, these features inspire the world’s leading technology companies with the trademark simplicity and elegance that every WET feature embodies.

The gateway to this intellectual community is Overture, first seen from the street as a peaceful cascade of waterfalls pouring down tiered pools. Pathways lead throughout these overflowing basins while benches provide relaxing places to enjoy the soothing sounds of water. Music begins to play, signaling the start of a dynamic performance that draws an audience from throughout the plaza. Above the largest pool a choreographed dance of water and light emerges. A burst of gold light illuminates the jets that stream upwards, shifting to a brilliant red when the water reaches its climax, before unfolding into a shower of dazzling white lights.

From the north entrance, a white marble staircase leads down into the heart of Raycom, an open atrium bathed in natural light. Centered in this expansive space is Flourish, a slender pool with rows of blooming waters that open and close like water lilies. Lofty Chinese arias play as a blanket of mist slides over the undulating water lilies, reminiscent of morning fog rolling over mountains. Vertical jets pierce the mist as the music builds – the water stands tall, forming slim flower stems before opening into pure glassy petals. A bridge affords an elevated view of the dance, while creating the perfect photo opportunity above this modern rendition of a Chinese garden.

WET’s two aquatic focal points provide an opportunity for the business park’s visitors to escape and enjoy moments of tranquility; an oasis within the city.
