The expansive beauty of wooded hills and rolling meadows is the setting of Oakland University’s campus. Since its creation in 1957, the university has grown steadily and continues to make advancements in its facilities and surroundings.

A new, symbolic heart for the campus is the result of the generosity of Hugh and Nancy Elliott. A dramatic Carillon Tower rises high above a lushly landscaped plaza creating an iconic, landmark destination and gathering place. Carved into the stepped pedestrian space below is a kinetic echo of the adjacent tower sculpted in water. Vertical pulses emerge from the granite paving creating sophisticated water choreographies in the air. In the evening, the water is washed in romantic white light casting a flickering, warm glow on those who gather by the water’s edge.
