Set upon the Atlantic Ocean’s edge, WET created an exquisite performance fountain for the highly anticipated Morocco Mall in Casablanca, Morocco. Developers Askal Group and the Al Jedaie Group collectively created a true retail and entertainment spectacle spanning across 24,700 acres of land with over 300 stores, an IMAX theatre, aquarium, ice skating and bowling space, lush gardens and the largest fountain on African continent: Swell. Said to be the most exotic tourist location on the Casablanca Corniche, WET’s kinetic feature at the core of architect David Padoa’s seashell like design of the complex, can be interpreted as Morocco Mall’s luminous pearl.

Swell is a punctuating centerpiece for the mall’s exterior pathways and shops, situated at the heart of the mall’s succulent gardens and spans across 200 meters in length. The fountain’s name derives from an ocean’s swell, and from the wavelike motion of the fountain’s undulating jets. Pulsing columns of water capable of reaching 60 meters high, melodically emit from the eye-shaped basin, seamlessly in sync with the arching streams of water that sway to the fountain’s soundtrack of Moroccan, Arab and International music. Its perimeter and plant covered amphitheater entice visitors and locals alike to rest and relax by the fountain for an escape of magical entertainment. During day performances, the fountain is a crystalline stage, with rays of sunlight bouncing off the water play. Come sundown, the white light infuses the fountain with romance, transforming each choreographed piece into a lover’s serenade.

At the 2011 Inaugural Opening Ceremony of the Morocco Mall, celebrity Jennifer Lopez christened the fountain’s grand unveiling by performing a live set. With the success of the opening, WET choreographed the feature to Jennifer Lopez’s international hit “Let’s Get Loud”.
