When President Clinton broke ground for his presidential library in 2001, the city of Little Rock sprang into action to prepare for its role as host. It was in this spirit that WET was brought in to create a feature for the city’s single-terminal airport. The arc-shaped fountain, located on a stretch of Airport Road near Interstate 440, is a metaphorical gateway for travelers arriving to and leaving from the airport. At night, rows of underwater lamps illuminate the feature from below, recalling lights on a tarmac. Unless you’re the hitchhiking type, the waters are best appreciated from a passing vehicle.
