Chorus is a liquid chandelier marking the entry of Ravinia and celebrating the event of the evening with joy and grace. Set at the base of a vine-clad wall, the reflective pool of the fountain and its surroundings conjure images of the area’s ravines, for which Ravinia is named.

The drama of the entry experience is heightened as concert goers make their way through the tunnel beneath the railway track. The layers of vertical crystalline jets create a dancing display that fills one’s frame of view. As the tunnel ends and the sky opens up again, the air pulses with the rhythmic performance of the jet ensemble.

The action of the jets, changing from entry to exit and from jubilant to subdued act as an overture and a coda to the musical performance on the stage.

The movement of the water creates its own sense of musicality through the sounds of water emerging from and falling into the pool below. The compositions of patterns and their evolution from one to the next provide a continual sonic, as well as a visual expression. As the sun sets, the feature becomes brilliantly lit with color-changing light, further heightening one’s sense of excitement and anticipation upon entering Ravinia and elevating the occasion’s sense of ceremony.
