Located in the heart of downtown Kansas City, Barney Allis Plaza was redesigned in 1985 with the intent to make it more pedestrian-friendly. In an area dominated by tall, rigid office towers, WET’s water feature acts as an oasis, creating a vitality and vibrancy in conjunction with the concrete and grass plaza.

The fountain displays a linear arrangement of 112 evenly spaced geyser jets that stretch along the length of the plaza’s façade. The water varies in pre-programmed sequences that go from a gentle bubbling to a height of 12 feet. As the water shoots skyward in frothy vertical columns, the overflow of the surrounding pool falls over a series of granite steps, descending into a white water cascade.

At night, the fountain is illuminated by a series of colored lights that emphasize the water as a visual spectacle.
