The feature is located in the Pavilion lobby of the Ameristar Casino in St. Charles, Missouri, acting as the threshold to the Ameristar Casino’s entertainment areas and hotel. The feature’s vertical water expression provides light and sound to be experienced by those entering from the porte cochere. The feature’s form is a cross-shaped pool, whose edges are softened with curves that contextually relate to the building’s form. At the four tips of the cross, pairs of laminar stream jets arc into the basin, forming sometimes playful, sometimes elegant compositions. They form “water sparks” at their mid-air intersections. In the center of the feature sit eight water columns, which can shoot vertically to programmatically varied heights of up to sixty feet, integrating with the laminar streams.
